Position: Manufacturing Engineer – Nuclear & Advanced Energy Systems
Location: Waterloo, ON (Onsite, 5 days/week)

Its work spans advanced nuclear technologies, quantum sensing, and deep-tech engineering initiatives supporting large-scale national infrastructure and innovation programs.
The organization designs hardware intended for operation in demanding and high-performance environments and is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the transition of complex engineering concepts into scalable, production-ready systems. This role supports manufacturing readiness activities related to high-integrity fabricated and reactor-adjacent components.
About the Role
The successful candidate will work across design engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing operations to ensure hardware systems can be produced safely, efficiently, and consistently. Responsibilities include supporting manufacturability reviews for welded assemblies, pressure-boundary components, machined parts, and other critical hardware, as well as assisting with prototype builds, process qualification, and manufacturing readiness milestones.

Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & DFM Execution
- Lead DFM/DFA reviews for welded assemblies, machined components, and pressure-boundary hardware
- Translate engineering models into manufacturable and inspectable production hardware
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, work instructions, and production documentation
- Support prototype builds, first-article inspections, and production ramp-up activities
Process Development & Quality
- Identify manufacturing risks and support root-cause investigations and corrective actions
- Develop tooling, fixtures, and testing setups to improve repeatability and throughput
- Collaborate with Quality Engineering on inspection plans, PFMEA activities, control plans, and NCR resolution
- Analyze manufacturing data to identify process bottlenecks and variability
Supplier & Program Support
- Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to support manufacturability and quality compliance
- Assist with manufacturing readiness deliverables and process capability initiatives
- Ensure manufacturing activities align with applicable safety and quality standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline
- 4+ years of experience in manufacturing, production, or industrial engineering
- Hands-on experience with machining, fabrication, assembly, or prototype builds
- Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerancing, manufacturing processes, and process controls
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving engineering environment
Preferred Skills
- Experience in regulated industries such as nuclear, aerospace, energy, or defence manufacturing
- Exposure to pressure vessels, welding processes, ASME standards, or NDE methods
- Experience supporting NPI/NPD activities from prototype through production
- Familiarity with PFMEA, control plans, and structured process qualification
- Experience using ERP, MES, or PLM systems
- Understanding of manufacturing requirements for safety-critical hardware
